Attorney’s Fees & Costs

One of the biggest concerns for potential clients is the cost of hiring a lawyer. How can I pay for all of the legal fees and expenses? Especially if I’m not working because of my injuries.  At Good Guys Injury Law, we want to assure you that you can afford to hire us. This page explains how we work on a contingency fee agreement and can help you with the costs—both legal and medical—that you will incur as a result of an accident.

At Good Guys Injury Law, we believe you deserve to be protected in this trying time, so we offer you a list of both guarantees and rights that you can expect from us when you join our law firm.

Our Guarantees

1. Free Consultation

Here at Good Guys Injury Law, we understand how hard it can be to deal with the stress and financial burdens of a personal injury. For this reason, we offer a free consultation to help you know what your case is worth. Keep in mind that all of our services offered are based on a No Fee Guarantee, which means that we won’t charge you a dime unless your case is won.

2. Can’t make it? Then we will come to you.

If you cannot make it to one of our three offices (Draper, Orem, & Bountiful), then we will come to you by phone, internet, or even to your home. We also make hospital visits. Do not let any financial or physical limitations stop you from contacting us about your case.

3. Contingency Fee Agreement

Our attorney’s fees are 1/3 of the total settlement. So if your case settles for $30,000, then the attorney’s fees will be $10,000. As promised in our ‘No Fee Guarantee,’ you will not be charged for any of our services unless we win your case.  If your case goes all the way to trial or arbitration, our attorney’s fee will be 40%.  We suggest treating the decision to hire an attorney like you would any other significant decision.  Talk to different attorneys and find someone your most comfortable hiring.  You may not want to agree to a higher fee just because the attorney filed a complaint and threatened to go to trial.  At Christensen and Hymas our fee only goes to up if we actually go all the way to trial or arbitration, and this is less than 2% of all cases.

4. No Fee Guarantee

You will not be charged for any of our services unless we win your case. At Good Guys Injury Law, we will only charge you after we have won your case.

Occasionally your case will require expert witnesses or other expenses which we will cover, but will be in addition to the 1/3 or 40%. We promise to keep these costs to a minimum while still ensuring that we can thoroughly prove your case.

The Insurance Research Council reports that personal injury victims receive 3.5 times more in compensation when hiring an attorney than if they were to pursue the case themselves.

5. No Upfront Costs

There are many initial costs to get your case started, including gathering evidence and obtaining police reports and medical records. You will not have to pay for these costs until after your case settles – our firm will just be reimbursed out of the settlement.

If, at any point from the time you hire our law firm until a settlement offer has been made, we haven’t exceeded every single promise made to you with the most exceptional client experience, you owe us nothing for the work we’ve done. You can leave and we will not charge you for our attorneys fees or the costs incurred for your case.  There’s too much uncertainty after an accident, that’s why we offer a guarantee YOU can count on.

6. Help Ensure All Medical Bills are Being Paid

There are many medical costs that come from personal injuries. We will help ensure that you are able to cover all of these costs through the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or ‘No Fault’ Insurance coverage, as well as your own health insurance. If you do not have insurance, then we will try to set up a lien with your medical providers.

A lien is a formal agreement with the doctors, health insurance company, or collection agencies that you owe payments to. It states that you will pay them back once you have won your case and received your settlement. Not having to worry about the mounting medical bills will give you increased peace of mind as you recover from your injuries.

Client’s Rights

1. Right to a fair settlement

Whenever a settlement offer is made, we will explain exactly how much you will be getting paid. This means that we will show your net recovery after all medical bills, costs, and attorney’s fees are paid before we recommend whether or not you should accept the offer.

2. Right to a fair written fee agreement

We have a ‘No Fee Guarantee’ and no upfront fees and we back it up in writing.

3. Right to cancel the agreement

You can cancel the agreement to hire our firm at any time for any reason.  If you cancel the agreement, you owe us no fee for the work we have done unless cancellation occurs after we have already received a settlement offer, verdict/judgment, or award on your case (these are the moments of victory we talk about in our ads). This prevents someone from hiring us, having us do the work, obtaining a victory, and then cancelling the agreement to avoid payment for the work we had done. We may also cancel this agreement at any time for any reason. If we cancel, you owe us nothing for the work we have done.

4. Right to reasonable costs

Whenever we incur legal costs, it will be because we believe it is absolutely necessary for your case. We will not add on additional costs without a specific reason. If there is a way to win your case without additional costs, then we will do it.

5. Right to information

As you can see from our free Utah Accident book, we believe accident victims should be informed, so they can make important decision in the comfort of their homes, before speaking with an insurance adjuster. We also limit our case loads, so you get the personal attention that you need and deserve.

When you contact our office, we will answer your questions and help resolve your concerns. If you want to talk to your lawyer directly, then he will always make himself available to you. We will also update you regularly on how your case is progressing and will answer any questions you have about it. We will also ensure that everything is communicated in plain English, not in legal jargon.
